Don’t bother getting out your reading glasses, I’ll make this quick.

Somehow my youtube wanderings of the day dropped me into the profile of Ariel Publicity.  I blinked a couple of times and realized I was looking at a pile of videos from Ariel Hyatt’s ‘Sound Advice’ series where she is interviewing Derek Sivers.  These are from a couple of years ago and full of great stuff.  I can’t believe I hadn’t seen them before!

For those of you who have been living under a rock, Derek Sivers is the guy who started CDBaby, built it into a huge successful company, sold it, and gave the money away.  Needless to say he’s a pretty interesting cat.  Derek is a sagely character who has paid his dues, walked through the fire, and come out the other side with a genuine common sense about achieving ones goals.  When he talks you feel as though you’re being reminded of something important that you already knew but somehow forgot.  He’s also really smart and knows a hell of a lot about the music business and marketing music on the internet.

Ariel Hyatt is no slouch either.  She’s been doing the internet based PR thing since before it was cool.  She was all over using social networking as a marketing and PR tool when most people were still squinting at the screen in their flip-flops and robe muttering “it’s just another dumb internet fad.  Wake me up when it’s over.”  Her firm Ariel Publicity appears to be doing quite well based on her travel itinerary.  She has a lot of great insights in these videos as well.

So without further blaberization on my part, here’s the chunk entitled “Lets See What Happens If…”  All of the clips are worth checking out.
