Hi. I’m Daniel Crandall. I obsess on playing and thinking about Rock and Roll. It’s my obsession. Did I mentioned I’m obsessed. I have been for as long as anybody has known me. I drive my family and friends a bit nuts with it. There are so many intriguing facets to this insane craft. On the surface Rock and Roll seems pretty straight forward, yet even in it’s nakedest forms there is great variation and complexity. It’s exciting and more than a little mind blowing. But I don’t need to tell you that.
I’ve been playing rock music in one form or another for… lets just say more than a couple of decades. I’ve been in about 12,000 bands, many of which royally sucked, and others that were pretty alright. I’ve also done most of my own recording, worked with some incredible small studios, a fair bit of touring and generally dealing with the realities of being a striving musician and continuing to follow my passion even when it seems like one brick wall after another… continuing to rock until I die because I have to… because I can’t live without it… and smiling till my face hurts when the stars line up and the crowd is right and that golden moment that we all live for becomes real and Rock gets thrown down and everybody feels it.
“The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There’s also a negative side.” (Hunter S. Thompson)
Ok, enough talk. Lets do this.
P.S. In case you’re curious my current band is called The Lovely Savages. Our motto is: “Real Rock and Roll – If you can find a better deal, you eat for free.”
